Fly Into Silver Wings Field (55AR): A Pilot's Guide to Landing at the Museum
1,900 feet of turf in the Ozarks, three miles from downtown Eureka Springs — and a museum on the ramp. Call first.
Silver Wings Field is Eureka Springs' only airport, and it sits on the museum's doorstep. Pilots fly in for the show, park on the grass, and walk to the hangar. It is a private field, so the one non-negotiable step comes before you file anything: call.
Prior permission required
All pilots must contact the airport manager at 479-253-5008 to obtain permission to land. This is not a formality — it is a private turf strip in mountain country and we want to know you are coming.

Restrictions
- No landings runway 34.
- All takeoffs to the north; all landings from the north.
- Radio-controlled model aircraft operate in the vicinity of the southeast end.
Treat the pattern as published above rather than as a preference. The one-way convention exists because of terrain and because the southeast end has model traffic.
What you fly in for
The show starts at 3:00 PM and runs an hour and a half to two hours, one show per day, April 1 through October 31, closed Sundays. On the ramp you will find an F-105 Thunderchief, an F-100 Super Sabre, a T-33 Shooting Star, a Convair T-29, a Navy T-34 Mentor and a Northrop F-5. Inside, the AeroBall SimCab — the only surviving example on earth of a simulator originally built at a cost of over three million dollars — and a hangar full of Cadet-era iron.
Reserve seats for the show when you call for landing permission, and plan your fuel around the field having none. Weather in the Ozarks changes fast; if it goes down, call and we will work it out.
